Q. Do I need experience or some minimum level of fitness?
A. No. Our workouts and exercises scale to any level. We’ve had all levels of physical fitness and ages. However, we recommend starting your training in our Boot Camp classes to build endurance, stability and strength with your body weight first. Still worried? If Kyle can do it, I think you can too!
Q. I have/had an injury. Can I still do CrossFit?
A. Many of our members have successfully used CrossFit to rehabilitate from minor injuries. Because people continue to move, work, and play in the real world regardless of injury history, we believe the best route to long-term health is to learn perfect form on functional movements, then to slowly build strength in those movements, rather than to avoid them altogether. At the same time, our instructors are always happy to work with you to scale and substitute exercises, to tailor workouts to your abilities. That said, we cannot offer you specific medical advice, and advise that you consult your physician before starting this (or any other) exercise program.
Q. How do I start?
All the details are listed on our Getting Started page.
Q. When can I get started?
A. First you must complete one of the CrossFit OnRamp Workshop. Contact us to set up your workshop.
Q. I’m really fit and would like to skip the workshop class and come to the Workout of the Day (WOD) class, can I do that?
A. No. There are no drop-ins to the WOD classes. You must complete our CrossFit OnRamp Workshop before being allowed to take WOD classes.
Q. But what if I’m really, really fit?
A. No means no. If you are really, really fit, we can scale up the workouts in the workshop and introductory workouts for you. We promise we can leave you lying on the floor, sore and gasping, even after a beginners’ class.
Q. Will CrossFit make me bulky?
A. Do you see any bulk here?
Q. I’m just visiting White Bear, but I am an experienced CrossFitter visiting from another affiliate. Can I come workout?
A. We welcome experienced CrossFitters from all over. Please give us a heads up of your visit by emailing us so that we can advise you of our WOD schedule.
Q.What is your drop in rate for visiting CrossFitters?
A. If you want to support us buy a T-Shirt or throw us $10 a day
Q. I have relocated from another area or have moved into your neighborhood. Can I visit and start WOD classes?
A. As mentioned above, any experienced CrossFitter is welcome to attend one of our regular, all levels WOD classes. Before allowing you to skip the OnRamp Workshop, you’ll need to be able to exhibit good knowledge and safety in the basics of CrossFit. You do not have to be a superstar, but you do need to know the movements and how to perform them safely.
Q. How much does the OnRamp Workshop cost?
A. 4 Boot Camp OnRamp sessions for $150 for 4 classes and $100 for the additional 4 CrossFit OnRamp Sessions. Purchase all 8 sessions for $200. Boot Camp OnRamp sessions Free with any purchase of 3 or 6 month membership. We recommend most people start in boot camp and work their way into CrossFit Classes
Q. What does the OnRamp Workshop cover?
A. We’ll be coaching you in several aspects. The Boot Camp OnRamp will include mostly body weight exercises such as push-up, pull-up, rope climbing, box jumps and kettlebell swings, ect. A. That’s cool. There is no commitment required beyond the workshop you have signed up for. If you don’t join, then you have walked away with two weeks of great coaching and a good, working knowledge of CrossFit. If you are interested in making CrossFit training a more permanent part of your life, check out How to Join.
Q. Do you take credit cards, cash, and personal checks?

Q. Why is your price point higher then large commercial gyms?
A. CrossFit White Bear isn’t just four walls with equipment inside. We program your workouts, ensure you are doing movements properly and we motivate you to push yourself harder. CrossFit White Bear might be a bit more then the other guys, but we provide much more personal attention to your goals.
Q. Can I sign up for membership online through your website?
A. Sure can, however, we are brand new and still ironing out the wrinkles. Please Contact us for additional information.
Q. Do you sell t-shirts?
A. Of course. Come on down to the Box and get some!
Q. Do you have showers?
A. Yes we do!
Q. Can I just come to CrossFit White Bear and work out on my own?
A. In most cases No. We are more like a dojo than a typical commercial gym. We offer classes, workshops and small group sessions, where people work out under trainer supervision, as it yields better, safer, and faster results than having people simply use the facility by themselves. Some exceptions may be made for ADVANCED CrossFit athletes.
